Spain Colored Orange
Spain Colored Orange
Spain Colored Orange is an indie rock band from Houston, Texas. The band signed with the label Lucid Records in 2005, and Shout It Out Loud Music in 2008. Their sound has been characterized as indie rock and indie pop with elements of psychedelic rock, '70s rock, and jazz.

Spain Colored Orange has shared a live stage with such other bands as Modest Mouse, Fiery Furnaces, Of Montreal, Ra Ra Riot and Trail of Dead in addition to playing with Houston's resident indie-god Daniel Johnston in 2011.

The band began in 2000 as a solo project by frontman Gilbert Alfaro, formerly of two local-legend and nationally touring bands of the late-80's and 90's -- Refuse To Fall and Blueprint, respectively.

Other members joined after they heard Alfaro's initial tapes. The band was originally called "8Track Charade," but changed their name just days before signing a record deal with Lucid Records. According to Alfaro, the band's final name, Spain Colored Orange, originated from an elementary school project that his grandmother had hanging in her house.

After signing with Lucid Records in 2005, the band released the EP 'Hopelessly Incapable of Standing in the Way.' After willfully being released from their contract with Lucid Records in 2008, they signed with Brooklyn-based Shout It Out Loud Music and released their first full-length album -- 'Sneaky Like a Villain' -- in 2009.
